Gradient Text in Adobe Illustrator
You would have tried to fill your text with Gradient swatch and would have ended with no change in the text color. Filling text with the Gradient swatch is not same as filling the text with any color swatch. There is a trick in Adobe Illustrator to fill the text with Gradient swatch and in today’s Illustrator tutorial you will learn to create Gradient Text in Illustrator.
Follow the below steps to make Gradient Text in Illustrator–
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Select the Type Tool from the Tool Panel. Now click on the artboard and type the text.
Now select the text with the help of Selection Tool and make it an editable text. Click on the Create OutlinesButton in the Properties Panel and then Ungroup the text. Create Outlines Button helps in converting the text into paths.
Select all the letters and go to the Appearance Panel. Click on Window in the Menu Bar and select Appearance. When you will click on Appearance, Appearance Panel will appear on the artboard.
In Appearance Panel, select Add New Fillicon present at the bottom left.
New Filllayer will be added in the Appearance Panel. Now in that layer change the fill to the Gradient Fill and you will see that the text is filled with the selected Gradient.
This is the trick to Fill Text with Gradient in Adobe Illustrator. You can change the color of the Gradient Text with the help of Gradient Tool.
