Graphic Pen Effect Portrait in Adobe Illustrator
Today you will learn to create a Graphic Pen Effect Portrait in Adobe Illustrator without using the Pen Tool or Pencil Tool. Isn’t it amazing?
We will use the Image Trace and Effect Tool to create a Graphic Pen Effect Portrait.
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now select a high definition image for the portrait and place it on the artboard.
Click on File in the Menu Bar and select Place to browse the image.
Select the image, put a checkmark on Link, and click on Place. The image selected will be placed on the artboard.
Select the image and click on the Image Trace button in the Properties Panel.
Now select Default to trace the image.
When you will select Default the image will get traced into black and white color.
Now we will open the Image Trace Panel to make some changes in the tracing result.
In the Image Trace Panel, change the Mode of image trace to Color and the number of Colors to 4.
Now we will expand the tracing object to convert it into paths. For that, click on Expand in the Properties Panel.
Now click on Effect in the Menu Bar and place the cursor on Sketch. Select Graphic Pen.
When you will click on Graphic Pen, the box shown in the below image will appear. In this, you can set the Length and Direction of the Strokes and even you can set the Balance between light and dark color.
Click OK and your Graphic Pen Effect Portrait in Adobe Illustrator is ready.
