In today’s tutorial, you will learn to create Oil Paint Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator. We will use the Blend Tool, Rectangle Tool, Twirl Tool, Type Tool, and few other tools to create this effect.
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now follow the below steps:
Select the Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle on the left side of the artboard. Fill the rectangle with a lighter shade of color and turn off the strokes for that rectangle.
Now draw another rectangle of the same size on the right side of the artboard. Fill this rectangle with the darker shade of the color.
Now select both the rectangles and press Alt + Ctrl + B to make a Blend.
You can increase or decrease the number of Specified Steps with the help of the Blend Tool. Double click on the Blend Tool in the Tool Panel, and the Blend Options dialogue box will appear on the artboard.
Let the blend result be selected, and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Then click on Expand to convert the blend result into editable paths.
With the help of the Selection Tool, select all the rectangles and then compress the rectangles as shown in the below image.
Make sure that the group of rectangles is selected. Now press and hold Alt Key and drag the selection to create a duplicate copy.
Now select the duplicate copy and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Transform and select Reflect. A dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box, select the Vertical Axis and click on OK.
Press Ctrl + A to select all the rectangles, and then with the help of the Alt Key create a duplicate copy of the selection. Then press Ctrl + D several times to repeat the transformation and fill the artboard with the rectangles.
Again press Ctrl + A to select all the rectangles. Now select the Twirl Tool from the Tool Panel and move the cursor all over the artboard. Make sure to press and hold the left click of your mouse while moving the cursor all over the artboard.
Now select the Type Tool and type the text. Place the text above the effect that we have created with the help of the Twirl Tool.
