Today, we will make a Realistic Eye Lens in Adobe Illustrator with the help of the Ellipse Tool, Pen Tool, Transform Effect, and a few other tools and effects.
This tutorial will help you in making a Realistic Eye Lens that can be used while making a portrait to give it a realistic effect.
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now, follow the below steps:
Select the Pen Tool and draw a straight line on the artboard. Turn off the fill color for the straight line and then increase the Stroke Weight.
Let the straight line be selected and change the stroke profile. (See the image below)
Select the line and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Transform and select Rotate. A dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box set the Angle of Rotation and click on Copy. Then press Ctrl + D several times to repeat the rotation.
Select all the lines and press Ctrl + G to group them.
Now, change the stroke color.
Select all the lines and click on Effect in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Distort and Transform and select Zig Zag.
In the Zig Zag dialogue box, set the points to Smooth and increase the Size. Check the Preview and click OK.
Now, select the group and press Ctrl + C to copy and Ctrl + F to paste in front. Again change the stroke color and open the Appearance Panel (Shift + F6).
In the Appearance Panel click on the Zig-Zag layer to open the Zig-Zag dialogue box. Now, you can edit the effect. Make changes in the Size and click OK.
Now, repeat Step 4 three to four times and each time change the stroke color and Size of the Zig Zag effect.
Press Ctrl + A to select all the groups and then click on Object in the Menu Bar and select Expand Appearance.
Now, Ungroup (Shift + Ctrl + G) the whole selection two times.
Let all the layers are selected and press Alt + Shift + Ctrl + D to open the Transform Each dialogue box.
In that dialogue box, put a checkmark on Preview and then set the Horizontal and Vertical Scale. Also, set the Angle and put a checkmark on Random.
Select the Ellipse Tool and draw a circle covering the lines. Fill the circle with color # 000000.
Let the circle be selected and change its blending mode to Screen.
Again, select the Ellipse Tool, and draw a small circle at the center.
Now, draw a very small circle and fill it with color #ffffff. Place this circle at the top left side of the inner circle and also apply Gaussian Blur to it.
Effect > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Now, draw another circle the same as the size of the larger circle and fill the circle with a black and white gradient. Double click on the Gradient Tool to open the Gradient Panel.
In the Gradient Panel, change the Gradient Type to Radial and move the white color slider near the black color slider and change their opacity.
Select the Rectangle Tool and draw a small rectangle filled with color #ffffff. Apply the Arc Wrap and Gaussian Blur to the rectangle and place it as shown in the below image.
Effect > Wrap > Arc
