3D Hexagon Pattern in Adobe Illustrator
Creating a pattern is an easy process in Adobe Illustrator. You just have to draw a piece of art and save it as a pattern with few changes in the settings.
Today we will create a 3D Hexagon Pattern in Adobe Illustrator with the help of Polygon Tool, Pen Tool, Shape Builder Tool, and Blend Tool.
Start with the tutorial by creating a new document in Adobe Illustrator and then follow the below steps-
Step 1
Select the Polygon Tool and turn off the Fill color. Now draw a hexagon on the artboard and increase its Stroke Weight.
I have rotated the hexagon to 3300 angles.
Step 2
Now select the Pen Tool and draw diagonal lines inside the hexagon.
After that, select the Shape Builder Tool and join the shapes to form a cube.
Step 3
With the help of the Selection Tool, select the top side of your shape and fill it with color #bcbec0. Then select the remaining two sides and fill it with color #e6e7e8. Make sure to turn off the stroke.
This is the background of your pattern.
Step 4
Again select the Pen Tool and draw lines as shown in the below image.
Let the shape, draw with the help of the Pen Tool, be selected, and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Path and select the Offset Path.
Now create an Offsetof negative value point. Check the Preview and click OK.
Step 5
Now select both paths and press Alt + Ctrl + B to make a Blend. Then double click on the Blend Tool, in the Tool Panel, to increase the Specified Steps.
Now do the same on the left and right side of the cube.
Step 6
Press Ctrl + A to select all the shapes and then click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Pattern and select Make.
Now in the Pattern Options, select the Tile Type as Brick by Row and manually set the Height and Width proportions. Then click on Done and the pattern will get saved in the Swatches Panel.
Step 7
Now select the Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle on the artboard. Select the pattern saved as Fillfor the rectangle.
This is how you can create a 3D Hexagon Pattern in Adobe Illustrator.
Now practice this tutorial and try creating a pattern with some other shape or design.
