Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a document of size 1000 pixels X 1000 pixels. Now follow the below steps:
Select the Rectangle Tool from the Tool Panel. Draw a rectangle on the artboard.
Select the rectangle and press and hold Alt Key. Now drag the selection to make a duplicate copy of it.
Similarly, make few more duplicate copies and make sure that the rectangles are aligned properly.
Press Ctrl + A to select all the rectangles and then rotate them to the 90o angle.
Now we will save these rectangles as a symbol. Open the Symbols Panel by pressing Shift + Ctrl + F11. Select all the rectangles with the help of the Selection Tool and drag the selection to the Symbols Panel.
A dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box, you can give a name to the symbol and then click OK. The new symbol will be added to the Symbols Panel.
Now select the Ellipse Tool and draw a circle on the artboard. Turn off Fill and choose white color as Stroke for the circle.
Now with the help of the Scissor Tool trim the circle into a half-circle.
Select the half circle and click on Effect in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on 3Dand select Revolve.
3D Revolve Options dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that artboard, put a checkmark on Preview. Then change the Position to Isometric Bottom.
After setting the position, click on Map Art. A new dialogue box will appear. In that dialogue box, we will place the added symbol over the surface of the circle.
After placing the symbol properly, click OK.
Now in the 3D Revolve Options dialogue box, change the Surface from Plastic Shading to No Shading.
Then click OK. Your Illusion Ball in Adobe Illustrator is ready.
