Engraved Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator
In the previous tutorial, you have learned to make an Embossed Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator, and in today’s tutorial, you will learn to make an Engraved Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator.
Engraved Text Effect is also known as Debossed Text Effect and Letterpress Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator.
By following these easy to draw steps you can make engraved/carved text effect in illustrator:
Open Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Select the Rectangle Tool and create a background. Fill the background with color code #a97c50.
Now select the Type Tool from the Tool Bar. Click on the artboard to type the text. Select a bold font style for the text.
Now select the text and change the fill to No Fill. Open the Appearance Panel and add a New Fill layer. In the New Fill layer, fill the text with color code #3c2415.
You can open the Appearance Panel by clicking on Window in the Menu Bar and then click on Appearance.
Again select the text and create a New Fill layer in the Appearance Panel by clicking on the New Fill Button.
The Fill color of the text will be #3c2415.
Now go to the Appearance Panel, select the top layer of the Fill, and click on the Opacity. Change the Opacity of the Fill from Default to Screen.
Now select the text and click on Effect in the Menu Bar and place the cursor on Stylize. Select Inner Glow.
An inner Glow dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box select the color of the glow and fill it with color code #603913. Change the Mode to Multiply and increase the Blur percentage to 13%. The Blur will be applied at the Edges.
Check the Preview and click OK.
Your Engraved Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator is ready.
