Stitched Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator
In today’s tutorial you will learn a new text effect; i.e.; Stitched Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator. This text effect is really very easy to create. All you need is to type a text, create an offset, and change the stroke.
We will make Stitch Text Effect in just 3 simple steps-
Step 1
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now select the Type Tool from the Tool Panel and click on the artboard to activate the type box. After this type the text and increase the font size. Choose a bold font style for the text.
Keep the text selected and make it an editable text. For that click on Type in the Menu Bar and then click on Create Outlines.
Step 2
Now select the text and change the fill color of the text. I have filled the text with color code # ed1c24.
Again select the text and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Now place the cursor on Path and select Offset Path.
After selecting the Offset Path, a dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box set the Offset to -3pt.
Check the Preview and click OK.
Step 3
When you will click on OK, the Offset Path of the original text will get created. Let the Offset Path created to be selected and now add stroke color to the new text layer. I have added the color #f9ed32.
Now Ungroup the letters and select the inner letters filled with stroke. In this new layer of the text created by Offset Path change the stroke into dash lines. Select the Offset Path created and click on Stroke in the Properties Panel.
When you will click on Stroke in the Properties Panel, the Stroke Panel will appear. In that increase, the Weight of Stroke and put a check-mark on Dashed Lines. Set the size of the dash and gap in between the dashes.
This is how you can create a Stitched Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator.
