Long Shadow Effect in Adobe Illustrator
In today’s tutorial, you will learn to create a Long Shadow Effect in Adobe Illustrator. There are pre-set effects in Adobe Illustrator to create the shadow effect but we can’t create Long Shadow Effect with those pre-set effects.
We will use the Blend Tool to create this effect.
Step 1
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Select the Type Tool from the Tool Panel and type the text.
Now select the text and click on Edit in the Menu Bar. Click on Copy to copy the text.
Again click on Edit in the Menu Bar and select Paste in Back. The text will get paste at the back.
Step 2
Now select the top layer of the text and change the color of the text.
Now go to the Layer Panel and select the bottom layer of the text.
With the help of the Alt key create a duplicate copy of the bottom layer of the text which is filled with black color.
Step 3
Now select both the text layers of black color and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Blend and select Make.
Double click on the Blend Tool in the Tool Panel and set the Specified Steps to 150.
Check the Preview and click OK.
Step 4
Now select the Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle to create a background. In the Layer Panel, you will see this rectangle layer at the top but we have created it for the background, so select the rectangle layer in the Layer Panel and drag it to place it below the blend layer.
Fill the rectangle with color #fbb040.
Step 5
Now select the blend layer and open the Appearance Panel. In the Appearance Panel, set the blending mode of Opacity to Overlay.
