Today we will create Sunburst Lines Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator. This effect is easy to create and helps in making the text stands out. We will use the Pen Tool, Transform Effect, Pathfinder Panel, Type Tool, Wrap Effect, and Erase Tool to create this effect.
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now follow the below steps:
Step 1
Select the Pen Tool and draw a vertical straight line at the center of the artboard. Turn off the fill color for the line drawn.
Select the stroke line and increase the Stroke Weight.
Step 2
Make sure that the line stroke is selected and then click on Effect in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Distort & Transform and select Transform.
When you will click on Transform, the Transform Effect dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box, put a checkmark on Preview and then set the Angle of rotation. Now enter the number of Copies you required and then click on OK.
Step 3
Now select the original stroke line and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Select Expand Appearance to convert the effect into paths.
Let all the strokes are selected and press Shift + Ctrl + Gto Ungroup them.
Step 4
Now select the Type Tool from the Tool Panel and type the text. Arrange the text as shown in the image below-
Now click on Effect in the Menu Bar but before that make sure that the text is selected. Place the cursor on Wrap and select Rise.
Horizontally Blend the text in the Wrap Option dialogue box and click OK.
Select the text and Expand Appearance to make it an editable text.
Step 5
Now place the text at the center of the group of lines.
Press Ctrl + C to copy the text.
Again click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Path and click on Offset Path.
Now enter the value of Offset and click OK.
Step 6
Press Ctrl + Shift + F9 to open the Pathfinder Panel.
Select the text and the offset path created and click on Unite in the Pathfinder Panel.
Then press Ctrl + A to select all the layers and click on Outline in the Pathfinder Panel.
Press Shift + Ctrl + G to ungroup the selection.
Step 7
Now select all the black lines visible on the artboard and hit backspace to remove them.
After removing the visible lines, press Ctrl + A to select those lines which are not visible on the artboard.
Select a Stroke color for these lines and increase the Stroke Weight. Also, change the caps of the lines to Round Caps.
Step 8
Do you remember that we had copied the text in Step 5?
We will now paste that copied text in this step.
Press Shift + Ctrl + V to paste the copied text in place.
Step 9
Select the text and press Ctrl + 2 to lock the layer. Now select all the lines and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on the Transform and select Transform Each.
In the Transform Each dialogue box set the Horizontal and Vertical Scale vale and put a checkmark on Random.
Put a checkmark on Preview to check the transformation and then click OK.
Step 10
Now select the Erase Tool from the Tool Panel and erase all the extra paths which are at the center of the artwork. With the help of the Erase Tool, you can also create gaps between the lines to make the Sunburst Line Text more effective. (See the image below)
