Vector Geometric Background in Adobe Illustrator
Today you will learn to create a Vector Geometric Background in Adobe Illustrator. To create this background we will first create a geometric shape and then we will arrange it in the form of a background.
Step 1
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now with the help of Rectangle Tool and Transform Effect, create a 3D cube which you had learned in the 3D cube tutorial. The link to the tutorial is given below-
Step 2
In this step, we will fill the sides of the cube with Gradient to create an effect of shadow.
With the help of the Selection Tool, select the left side of the cube and fill it with a black and white gradient. Then double click on the Gradient Tool to open the Gradient Panel.
In the Gradient Panel, click on the Gradient Slider and change the color of the pointer filled with black color. The new color to be filled is #a7a9ac.
In a similar way fill the other two sides of the cube with the same Gradient but the angle of the gradient will be different on all the sides.
On the right side of the cube, reverse the applied gradient and on the top of the cube, the angle of the gradient will be 90o.
Step 3
Now select all the sides of the cube and group them by pressing Ctrl + G. Reduce the size of the cube.
Select the cube and press and hold the Alt key and drag the cube to create a duplicate copy of it.
Now make more duplicate copies and arrange them in a line to create the background on the artboard.
Select all the cubes arranged in a line and group them and create more duplicate lines.
Step 4
Fill the whole of the artboard with these lines and your Vector Geometric Background in Adobe Illustrator is ready.
Practice this Illustrator tutorial and then try a different geometric shape to create a background.
