Water Drops in Adobe Illustrator
In today’s tutorial, you will learn to draw Water Drops in Adobe Illustrator. The main tools which will be used are Pencil Tool, Ellipse Tool, Mesh Tool, Gradient Tool, and a few other tools and effects.
We will also require an image of a flower or leaf.
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now follow the below steps:
Step 1
In this step, we will place the image on the artboard. Click on File in the Menu Bar and select Place.
Now browse the image and select it. Make sure that there is a checkmark on Link then click on Place to add the image on the artboard.
Now click anywhere on the artboard and the image will be placed on the artboard.
Select the image and press Ctrl + 2 to lock the image layer.
Step 2
Select the Pencil Tool and draw an oval shape as shown in the below image.
Select the shape and reduce its Opacity.
Step 3
Now select the Mesh Tool (U) from the Tool Panel and create a mesh as shown in the below image.
Now select the inner anchor point of the mesh and reduce its Opacity to 0.
Similarly, reduce the Opacity of the remaining three inner anchor points.
Step 4
Now select the Ellipse Tool and draw an oval shape inside the shape already drawn. Then fill that shape with a gradient.
Double click on the Gradient Tool in the Tool Bar to open the Gradient Panel. Set the angle of the gradient to -90o. Fill the Gradient Slider with white color and reduce the Opacity of the right slider to 0.
Step 5
Select the oval shape drawn in the above step and click on Object in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Transform and select Reflect.
Now reflect the shape on the Horizontal Axis and click on Copy.
Drag the reflected shape at the edge of the main shape.
Step 6
Let the reflected oval shape be selected and open the Transparency Panel.
Window > Transparency
In the Transparency Panel, change the blend mode to Overlay.
Now group all the shapes and reduce the size. Make duplicate copies of various sizes and place them on the petals of the flower.
