Needle Text Effect In Adobe Illustrator

Today we will create Needle Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator with the help of Type Tool, Rectangle Tool, Pathfinder Panel, and a few other tools and effects.

Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Now follow the below steps:

Step 1

Select the Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle the same as the size of the artboard. Fill the rectangle with #334036.

Step 2

Now select the Type Tool from the Tool Panel and type a letter on the artboard. Fill the letter with the color # ccffd9.

Now select the text and press Shift + Ctrl + O to make it editable text.

Step 3

Again select the Rectangle Tool and draw a thin rectangle on the artboard.

Select the rectangle and click on Effect in the Menu Bar. Place the cursor on Distort & Transform and select Transform.

Transform Effect dialogue box will appear on the artboard. In that dialogue box, put a checkmark on Preview and then enter the value to Horizontally Move the rectangle. Add the number of Copies in the dialogue box and click OK.

Step 4

Let the rectangle be selected and click on Object and select Expand Appearance.

Let all rectangles are selected and with the help of the Selection Tool, drag the selection over the letter and rotate it to form diagonal rectangles.

Step 5

Now select the letter and the rectangles and open Pathfinder Panel (Shift + Ctrl +F9). In the Pathfinder Panel, select Minus Front.

Press Shift + Ctrl + G to Ungroup the selection.

Step 6

Now select the Direct Selection Tool and with the help of the Shift key select the two anchor points of a rectangle. (See the below image)

Now click on Object in the Menu Bar and place the cursor on Path. Then click on Average and select Bothin the dialogue box which will appear on the artboard.

Now select the remaining two anchor points of the rectangle and drag the circles inside to make the edges round.

You can remove the corners of the letter and repeat the above step with each rectangle. You can also apply the Drop Shadow Effect to the shapes. In the end, your letter will look like this:
