Text Masking Effect in Adobe Illustrator
Today, we will create the Text Masking Effect in Adobe Illustrator which is an effect of Photoshop. We will create this effect with the help of Type Tool and Clipping Mask.
Launch Adobe Illustrator and create a new document.
Step 1
At first, we will place an image on the artboard. Click on File in the Menu Bar and select Place.
Now browse the image which you want to add to the artboard. Select the image and put a checkmark on Link then click on Place. Click on the artboard and the image will be added to it.
Step 2
Now select the Type Tool and type your text. Place the text on the image as shown in the below image.
Select all the letters and make it an editable text by selecting Create Outlines.
Now make a Compound Path of all the letters. Select all the letters and click on Object in the Menu Bar and then place the cursor on Compound Path and select Make.
With the help of the Selection Tool, select the image and the text and press Ctrl+2to lock them.
Step 3
Now select the Pen Tool and draw an outline of the girl. We will skip the area covered by the text. (See the image below)
After drawing the outline, unlock the layers which we had locked earlier. You can unlock them by going into the Layer Panelor press Alt + Ctrl + 2.
Now press Ctrl + A to select all the layers and with the help of Alt Key create a duplicate copy of all the layers.
Step 4
In the original copy, we will select the image and the outline created. Then we click right on the mouse and select Make Clipping Mask.
Similarly, Make a Clipping Mask in the other copy by selecting the image and the text.
Now drag the text near the image and your Text Masking Effect in Adobe Illustrator is ready.
